Garda investigation launched after man in his 50s dies in workplace incident

He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 10am.

A MAN IN his 50s has died after an industrial accident this morning.

The incident happened on the Ballymorris Road in Portarlington, Laois, shortly before 10am.

It is understood the man had been working at the site when a roof section of the building fell on him.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and was brought to the Midlands Regional Hospital.

A garda spokesman said: “Gardaí said they are investigating the incident along with the Health and Safety Authority.”
